Healthcare companies are bound by rigorous and critical security regulations to ensure patients and data privacy. HIPAA and other regulations must be followed or organizations can face massive and catastrophic fines. These compliance procedures mean that the organization’s infosec team must guarantee that any of their cloud-based solutions will meet these same data security requirements. Microsoft recently partnered with a large healthcare provider in the US to establish these very privacy compliance measures. The organization had a secure Azure environment and put every deployment through rigorous security and infosec reviews. Microsoft worked with them to migrating all their genomic workflows and solutions from on-prem and competing cloud infrastructure to Microsoft Azure in partnership with Microsoft Industry solutions healthcare service line and Microsoft Health Futures.
