A large pathology services provider needed to significantly increase their daily COVID testing capacity with a scalable and agile mobile application.

An industry leader in pathology services needed to quickly integrate a legacy system with a mobile application for immediate use for field workers on the front lines of COVID-19 testing. They required this agile, scalable app to be created swiftly and to allow multiple concurrent users in the field. In addition, this application needed to facilitate label printing in the field and to support and enhance current security protocols and systems.

Field Testing App Built on Azure is a Recipe for Success

The 3Cloud Team created a Microsoft Azure enabled system allowing for automation, scalability and secure entry that also hosts the web app and monitors performance. Our fast, innovative development and deployment gave the client an Azure-based field intake application that brings testing directly to patients, wherever they may be.

The Results

The Azure solution we provided enabled workers in the field to quickly input insurance information, print labels onsite and send info to the lab from a mobile device. Our solution provided increased agility to keep up with constant change. The field app also allowed for integration of a handheld Zebra printer designed to connect to mobile devices for immediate use by field workers.

Most importantly, the application we developed went live in only two months and the solution enhanced scalability, allowing field workers to immediately increase daily testing from 1,000 tests per day to 10,000. The client was able to quickly achieve their ultimate goal of 55,000 test per day within the weeks after the app launch.
